Hey Campers- Happy Halloween, at the risk of overkill, here in this saturated time and place, with the omnipresent keep-it-kommercial ghost of HALLOWEEN PRESENT always, ahem, present. What a misery, altho the little ones/the young ones who show up your door on 31 October as Little Orphan Annie, as a Praying Mantis, as Artemis, trick or treat, can dispel the residual cynicism. Mercy... What follows was written as an antidote to all the marketing, I would admit... Hope you can relate and that you'll join me once again at the great convergence that is currently billed as the Acoustic Blues Festival 2010, come late July, G-d willin' and if the creek don't rise...
In Most Every Song
At Centrum's Blues Festival-
call it country, call it acoustic blues-
every day, all week long
is All Saints' Day, every night is
All Hallow Even,
in the heart of summertime.
The spirit of the flesh and blood
woman or man who sang
and played the music
is present in most every song
you'll hear emerging from the porches,
in the lounges, under the trees,
and at the edge of the bluffs
at old Fort Worden.
The every day spirit, that mix of
sorrow and celebration,
emerging in most every song
that we resurrect each day
and sometimes all night long.

So, yeah, people. This was transmitted on this last evening of October- say hey and adios, Daylight Savings Time- while listening to the Reverend S. Burke presenting his definitive soul collection on a 2-disc anthology on Rhino. They's all kinda blues in this world, I swear...
